We’ve had a taste of Delain in this series when I featured Sever from their first album, Lucidity.
Today, let’s hear a song from their second album, April Rain, which has a slightly more refined sound.
I really like this song, “Stay Forever”, primarily because of the intensity of its sound, brought about by the interplay between string orchestration and metal instruments; the guitar solo is correspondingly epic as well. The song also has quieter, balladic moments that allow Charlotte Wessels‘ voice to shine through.
Altogether a very well put together song; one of my favourites from Delain.
(An official music video, for a change.)
As a fun bonus, here’s a fan-made voice cover of this song. I love how she really gets into it!
